Puppies/Breedings Planned

All our girls are Topmast Goldens and follow the Avidog breeding program with their breedings.

When we have a litter, it may be raised with Pat Swallows at Topmast Goldens in Michigan or with our co-owners.    We have entered into co-ownerships with some of our puppy owners who share the same dream for the ideal hunting , performance, companion, and healthy Golden Retrievers. We do not believe any Golden should live in a kennel environment, we believe in the same breeding philosophy, and share the same dream for healthy, sound, athletic representatives of the breed.

Spring 2025

We are planning on breeding our girl Chili for the last time in the Spring 2025 to Magic's frozen semen.

Magic was a hard running, biddable, lovable golden who should pass on great working ability and a partner that wants to work with you. Puppies he's produced have great biddability and work ethic.

pedigree

We are planning a breeding of our Buddy to a friend's golden Lola, here in Michigan Spring of 2025.

Buddy is 5 years old and from the Topmast Double Litter that was co-bred with Kim Portney of California.

Buddy is an active & happy boy who loves water and retrieving.

He has an HRC Seasoned pass, training for Senior, and loves to work whatever the game.

He's a 24" boy who passed his CCA easily at 2 1/2 years old at the 2021 GRCA National.

This qualified him for the GRCA Triathlon Award.

He is formally known as SHR Topmast Double Buckshot Buddy BN RA JH WCX CCA

Lola is also 5 years old and is known as Keepers Bella at the Copacabana BN RM TKN CGC CCA

Lola is a pretty and talented girl who belongs to Cindy Kelley here in Michigan.

She is working on her CD and her RACH. She is also a Therapy Dog.

Puppies should be due around first part of May.  They will be raised by Cindy using the Avidog breeding program.

Both dogs have all their clearances and are listed on OFA.org

These should be active, solid puppies with good structure, and that are cute as can be.

They should good for active families or performance dogs.

Both parents love to work.

Our next planned litter is a co-bred litter in the winter 2025/2026 with Lexi and Turbo.

Lexi is the dam to our Topmast Rock & Roll Litter.  She is co-owned with Laura Voncina here in Michigan.

She will be bred to Grapevine's Turbocharged MH WCX.  Puppies should be ready to go home early 2026.

Turbo finishing his MH and qualifying for the Master National and Master Amateur Invitational.

Turbo's titles show what a talented boy he is and what a great partnership that his owner Carol has with him.

Turbo is a dark red, athletic golden with an easy dry hair coat and very nice structure.

He earned his Master Hunter title this year and qualified for the 2024 Master National and 2025 Master Amateur Invitational.

He still has some maturing to do, but it is our goal to compete at these national events in the future.

He will also be working towards a CD and CCA this fall.

He has a sweet disposition, getting along well with the other intact males in the house as well as our frequent visitors.

He is genetically clear and contributes health and longevity to the breed.

Lexi is a talented multi-sport girl that loves to get out and have fun too.

She was the best momma to her last litter of 8 pups, Topmast Rock & Roll Litter.

We expect wonderful, lovely, structurally correct biddable pups with lots of talent and great temperaments.

They should be up for any game their new owners want to play with them.

We will place them in active working homes.

Our Breeding Philosophy

Please keep in mind that our breeding program focuses on producing correctly structured performance and hunting, and a few breeding goldens. We seek to place most of our pups in working homes that compete in more than one arena--field, agility, obedience, conformation, tracking--or that work their dogs in hunting, or serious pet-assisted therapy. If you are interested in a performance or hunting puppy from one of these litters, or would like further information on a future litter, please contact us via e-mail at  topmastgoldens@gmail.com

Typically, we have a litter every one to two years.

In the beginning, we co-bred with Gayle Watkins of Gaylan's Goldens. We are breeding under our own name now, but we are still breeding with her guidance and teachings. Our litters are whelped and raised here in our home, in the middle of all our daily happenings. They will be raised according to the Avidog  standards .   When they are old enough, they will spend the last 3 weeks walking in our fields and woods, swimming in our pond if weather permits, meeting lots of people and getting to know their relatives. We spend our time getting to know them so we can match them well with their new owners.
Before contacting us about a puppy, please read the following portions of our website to be sure that we and our dogs are right for you:

All of our pups experience the following developmental protocol:

  • Bio-Sensor exercises from 3-17 days of age
  • Introduction to a different novel scent from 3-17 days of age. To learn about this, watch an interesting webinar Introducing Scents in Neonate Puppies by Gayle Watkins PhD, about this program she developed.
  • Click  http://www.akcchf.org/news-events/multimedia/video/
  • Regular socialization with people of all ages and sizes
  • A physically and mentally stimulating environment appropriate to their age
  • Problem solving exercises, again, appropriate to their age
  • Socialization with dogs other than their dam
  • Introduction to solid food after 5 weeks of age followed by natural weaning, often not until 8 or 9 weeks
  • Daily walks in the fields and woods after 6 weeks (weather dependent)
  • Regular opportunities to swim (weather dependent)
  • Introduction to game birds
  • We do not remove dew claws. Click on the link to see Dr Chris Zink's article on why we don't.  Dew Claw Removal article
